Skills Required :
Have an appreciation of the structure of the Trinidad and Tobago economy,
the budgetary procedures of the public service and the strategic objectives of
the LMIU and the Ministry as a whole.
Possess in-depth understanding of econometric modeling, survey methods
and statistical practices and procedures.
Possess a broad understanding of the work of the department, the statistical
infrastructure of the unit and survey processes that are used to generate
statistics produced by the LMIU.
Have an interest in gaining further knowledge and understanding of the
conceptual basis, international conventions and practices for social statistics,
labour market and household statistics.
Possess the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
according to the MOLSMED standards.
Possess the ability to supervise staff.
Possess the ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with
staff and external stakeholders.
A Masters degree in Economics, Statistics or equivalent qualification or
experience in social science and/or statistics.
Additional certificates in project management and/or project evaluation will be

Conceptual knowledge of survey processes.
Working Knowledge of Micro Soft Word, Excel, Access, Power Point and

Contribute to the capacity of the LMIU to analyze and assess the impact of labour market policies on employment and social outcomes. Notably how the design of these labour market and social policies contribute to improving labour market outcomes, conditions of work and the well being of the population
Carry out econometric and statistical analysis related to the assessment of labour market and social policies and their impact on labour market outcomes and dynamics.
Monitor policy developments and the dynamics of labour market policies and analyse their impacts on labour market outcomes
Collect, validate, develop, transform and upload a range of labour and economic indicators into the Labour Administration Information System of Trinidad and Tobago (LAMISTT).
Build and expand support for the LAMISTT both within the MOLSMED and with external stakeholders.
Manage the input of data into the LAMISTT both internal and external stakeholders.
Advise on methods to enhance the LAMISTT.
Assist in preparation of periodic and specialized reports on a wide range of issues pertinent to the labour market of Trinidad and Tobago including, labour productivity, migration, youth unemployment, skills development and training, etc.
Support the production of accurate, relevant and timely communication tools such as periodic reports, positions papers, speeches and media releases.
Assist in the design, development, implementation, storage and analysis of surveys commissioned by the LMIU.
Assist in the update and recalibration of the Projections Model for the Labour Market of Trinidad and Tobago and develop reports based on its statistical output.
Maintain effective relationships with key LMIU stakeholders including but not limited to the CSO, NTA, NIB, ILO and the UNDP.
Respond to internal and external enquires and data requests under the supervision of the Head, Labour Market Information Unit.
Contribute ideas and proposals for new projects consistent with the strategic objectives of the LMIU.
Assist in the planning of focus groups and training sessions, workshops, consultations and conferences in furtherance of the strategic objectives of the LMIU.
Contribute to the development of work and training plans consistent with the strategic objectives of the LMIU.
Provide leadership guidance and oversight to subordinate staff members. Contribute to and participate in team building initiatives.
Assist in the preparation of weekly, monthly and quarterly achievement reports.
Provide technical support to the SNLMC and all other committees under the supervision of the LMIU.
